- This site has no accounts, no logins and no forms. We never ask you to type personal details into it.
- We set no cookies at all unless you accept them in the banner.
- If you accept, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which guides and tools are worth keeping.
- We do not sell data, run advertising trackers, or build profiles about you.
- The calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type never reach us.
Who we are
Veris Labs builds business systems and bespoke software for small and growing UK companies. This policy covers the website at verislabs.co.uk. For anything in it, or to exercise any of the rights below, email hello@verislabs.co.uk.
This block needs the real legal identity of the data controller, which only Veris Labs can supply. Replace it with either:
- If a limited company: the registered company name, company number and registered office address.
- If a sole trader: the trading name and a contact address.
Everything else on this page describes what the site genuinely does and needs no changes.
What we collect, and when
If you email us
Every contact route on this site is an ordinary mailto: link, so emailing us works exactly like emailing anyone else. We receive your email address, whatever name your mail client sends, and what you write. We keep it in our email account so we can reply and so we have a record of what was discussed.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has contacted us — or, where you are asking about buying something, taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
When you simply visit a page
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services, using S3 and CloudFront in the London region (eu-west-2). As with any web host, AWS processes the technical details needed to deliver a page and keep the service secure and available: your IP address, the time of the request, which page you asked for, and your browser's user agent string.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — running a website that works and is not being attacked.
Analytics, only if you accept
We use Google Analytics 4 (property G-CBQTTFZ1BJ) to understand which pages and tools people actually use, so we know what to write more of.
Analytics storage is switched off by default using Google Consent Mode. Until you press Accept analytics:
- No cookies are set and nothing is stored on your device.
- We cannot tell whether you have been here before.
- Google's script still loads, and therefore still receives the connection data any web request carries — your IP address, the page URL and your browser type — together with a signal saying consent was refused. Google uses this only for aggregate, non-identifying counts.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets the cookies listed below and records which pages you view, roughly where you are (country or region, worked out from your IP, which Google truncates), your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.
Our lawful basis for analytics is consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Fonts
Page fonts load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This sets no cookies, but it does mean your IP address is disclosed to Google in order to serve the font files. This happens on every visit, because it is needed to render the page.
The chat assistant
The "Ask Vee" assistant currently answers from a fixed script held in your browser. Your messages are not sent anywhere and we never see them. If we later connect it to an AI service, we will update this policy before doing so.
The calculators and tools
Every calculator on this site runs entirely as JavaScript inside your browser. Turnover, salaries, invoice values and anything else you enter are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and are gone as soon as you close the tab.

Set only after you accept analytics:

This one is needed to honour your decision at all, so it is stored either way. It holds a single word and no identifier.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie settings link, which also sits in the footer of every page. If you switch from accept to reject, we delete the _ga cookies straight away and stop sending analytics.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Doing so will not stop any part of this site working, because nothing here depends on them.
Who else sees your data
- Amazon Web Services — hosting. Data stays in the London region.
- Google — analytics (only with consent) and fonts.
Google is a US company, so analytics data may be processed outside the UK. Google relies on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and on standard contractual clauses to cover those transfers.
We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or pass it to anyone else except where we are legally required to.
How long we keep things
- Emails — for as long as we are in contact, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we have a record of what was agreed.
- Analytics — Google Analytics keeps event-level data for the retention period set on the property (Google offers 2 or 14 months). Aggregated reporting continues after that.
- Host logs — kept by AWS for a short period for security and diagnostics.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of any personal data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Email hello@verislabs.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is an email you sent us, because the site collects nothing else directly.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, where their postal address and helpline number are listed.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes that require consent will be put to you again through the cookie banner.
